Who conducts CUET and who releases the cutoffs? CUET
The NTA (National Testing Agency) conducts CUET and releases the scores. The cutoffs are released separately by each participating university — for Delhi University, through the CSAS portal across allotment rounds. Clearing CUET is not the same as getting admission.
Is clearing CUET enough to get admission? CUET
No. A CUET score alone does not secure admission. You must also register for the university's counselling process (e.g. CSAS for DU), fill your college–course preferences, receive an allotment, and accept and pay for the seat within the deadline.
Why do CUET cutoffs change every year? CUET
CUET cutoffs are not fixed in advance. They emerge from that year's demand, the number of seats, and the distribution of applicant scores. Because all three vary annually, the closing score for the same college–course can rise or fall each cycle.
Do CUET cutoffs drop in later CSAS rounds? CUET
Usually yes. As higher-scoring applicants accept seats in early rounds, later rounds and spot rounds often close at lower scores. Highly popular college–course combinations can stay competitive, but many seats become reachable at lower scores later.
Are CUET cutoffs different for each category? CUET
Yes. Cutoffs are set separately for each category (General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, PwBD). Reserved-category cutoffs are usually lower than General for the same college–course, though the exact gap varies by college, course and round.
How is the CUET percentile calculated? CUET
CUET percentile reflects your rank relative to all candidates in your session, after normalisation across multiple shifts. It is a relative measure, not your raw mark — the same raw score can map to different percentiles in different sessions. Verify exact figures on your official scorecard.
What is normalisation in CUET and why is it used? CUET
Normalisation adjusts for the fact that CUET runs in multiple shifts with different question papers of slightly varying difficulty. It converts raw marks to comparable normalised scores/percentiles so that no candidate is advantaged or disadvantaged by which shift they sat.
Can I predict my college from my CUET marks? CUET
You can estimate a realistic shortlist using a college predictor based on past cutoffs, but it is an estimate, not a guarantee. Actual outcomes depend on the current year's cutoffs, your category, your subject combination and your CSAS preference order.
What is CSAS in DU admission? CUET
CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System) is Delhi University's centralised admission process based on CUET scores. You register, fill college–course preferences, and DU allots seats across rounds. You then freeze or upgrade your allotted seat. Admission happens through CSAS, not directly via CUET.
What does 'freeze' vs 'upgrade' mean in CSAS? CUET
After an allotment, 'freeze' accepts your current seat and stops further upgrades; 'upgrade' keeps the current seat as a safety net while you remain in the running for higher-preference seats in later rounds. Choose based on how much you prefer your remaining options.
What is a CSAS spot round? CUET
A spot round is a final allotment stage held after the main rounds to fill seats still vacant. Eligibility and rules differ from earlier rounds — you may have to forgo a previously allotted seat — so read the official spot-round notice carefully before participating.
Can I change my subject or college combination after allotment? CUET
Within CSAS you can reorder preferences before an allotment and choose to upgrade for higher-ranked options in later rounds. After you freeze and accept a seat, changes are limited to whatever the official process allows for that cycle — check the current CSAS rules.
How do I choose CUET subjects for my target course? CUET
Pick CUET subjects that match the eligibility requirement of your target college–course combinations. Many courses specify required or preferred domain subjects, so map your subjects to your shortlist first. The right combination widens your eligible college list; the wrong one can quietly exclude you.
Is the CUET syllabus based on Class 12? CUET
The CUET (UG) domain subjects are broadly aligned to the Class 12 (NCERT) syllabus, with a General Test covering reasoning, quantitative aptitude and general awareness. Always confirm the current subject-wise syllabus on the official CUET source before finalising your preparation plan.
How should I start preparing for CUET? CUET
Start by fixing your target colleges and the subjects they require, then build a topic-wise plan around the Class 12 syllabus and the General Test. Add regular full-length mocks to practise the on-screen format and pacing, and review errors after every mock.
Do mock tests help for CUET? CUET
Yes. Proctored, full-length mocks build familiarity with the computer-based interface, improve time management across sections, and surface your weak topics early. Reviewing each mock — not just taking it — is what converts practice into score gains before exam day.
What is IPMAT and which institutes use it? IPMAT
IPMAT is the entrance test for five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) courses. IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak conduct their own IPMAT exams, while JIPMAT is used for IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. Each has its own pattern — verify the current structure on the official site.
Does IPMAT have negative marking? IPMAT
Mostly yes. At IIM Indore, the Quantitative Aptitude Short-Answer section has no negative marking, while QA-MCQ and Verbal deduct −1 per wrong answer. IIM Rohtak applies −1 across all sections. Always attempt the no-negative SA section fully. Verify the current cycle officially.
Should I attempt every question in the IPMAT QA Short-Answer section? IPMAT
Yes, at IIM Indore. The Short-Answer (type-in) section has no negative marking, so a blank is a guaranteed zero while a reasoned attempt can only help. Attempt all of them with your best approximation — there is no penalty for being wrong there.
What is the IPMAT Indore sectional time lock? IPMAT
IIM Indore locks each section to a fixed 40-minute window; you cannot carry unused time between sections or return to a completed one. This means you must pace per section rather than across the whole paper. Confirm the current timing on iimidr.ac.in.
How does negative marking change my guessing strategy? IPMAT
Under −1 marking, a blind guess among four options has a slightly positive expected value, but it is high-variance. Eliminating even one option shifts the odds clearly in your favour. So guess only after eliminating at least one choice; on no-negative sections, never leave a blank.
How is IPMAT Indore different from IIM Rohtak? IPMAT
IIM Indore uses QA Short-Answer, QA-MCQ and Verbal with a 40-minute sectional lock and no negative marking on Short-Answer. IIM Rohtak adds Logical Reasoning, applies −1 across all sections and has no sectional lock — so you control your own time. Verify both for the current cycle.
How is the final IPM selection decided? IPMAT
Selection is a composite: your IPMAT aptitude score plus a Personal Interview, often with past-academics and diversity factors. A high aptitude score earns the interview call, but the final offer weighs the composite. Exact weights vary by institute and cycle — verify the official admission policy.
What is a 'safe score' for IPMAT? IPMAT
A safe score is an estimated buffer above the likely cutoff that improves your call chances, since cutoffs move year to year. It is an estimate, not an official threshold. Treat any safe-score figure as guidance and aim comfortably above the previous cycle's cutoff band.
Are IPMAT sectional cutoffs cleared independently? IPMAT
Typically yes — institutes that set sectional qualifying marks require you to clear each section's threshold in addition to your overall/composite standing. Missing a sectional cutoff can disqualify an otherwise strong overall score, so prepare every section. Confirm the current rule with the official source.
What is the eligibility for IPMAT? IPMAT
IPMAT is aimed at students who have completed (or are completing) Class 12, with institute-specific minimum marks and an age limit that applies in the year of the test. Criteria differ by institute and category and can change yearly — verify the exact eligibility on the official site.
Is there an age limit for IPMAT? IPMAT
Yes. IPM programmes apply a maximum-age criterion (with relaxation for reserved categories) measured in the admission year, because they admit students straight after Class 12. The exact cut-off age and relaxations vary by institute and cycle, so confirm them on the official admission page.
What is the IPMAT application process? IPMAT
Broadly: register on the institute's portal, fill the form and upload documents, pay the fee, download the admit card, sit the test, and — if shortlisted — attend the Personal Interview before the final composite result. Each institute runs its own timeline, so track the official dates closely.
What happens in the IPM Personal Interview? IPMAT
The Personal Interview probes your clarity of thought, awareness, academic background and motivation for a five-year management programme. Panels look for genuine reasoning over rehearsed answers. Profile-building and mock interviews help, but authenticity and the ability to justify your views matter most.
How should I prepare for IPMAT? IPMAT
Build section-wise strength in Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability (plus Logical Reasoning for Rohtak), then drill the specific pattern of your target institute, including its marking and any sectional lock. Add timed full-length mocks and review every error to convert practice into score.
Are JIPMAT, IPMAT Indore and IPMAT Rohtak the same exam? IPMAT
No. They are separate exams with different patterns and conducting bodies: IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak run their own IPMAT papers, while JIPMAT is the common test for IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. Prepare for the specific pattern of each institute you target.
